Yes. We need to know the concept someone is using, not the mere word. Find out what someone means by a word or sentence. Don’t take it at face value. Find out what things in the world they mean by a word, what things in the world they mean by a sentence, what their evidence is for a claim, what the sample was from which they generalized.
