What is Logic?

Schedule: This is a 1-hour class.

Format: Lecture with some class participation. No grading; homework is optional.

Cost: $20 per person for a group class of 4 or more students; $80 for one-on-one tutoring.

Class Description.

What is logic? What are some misconceptions about logic? Why is it too often misunderstood? Why do we need it? How do we go wrong without it? What are some aspects and “parts” of logic?

We will discuss and delve into these questions to clarify the concept of logic so you can think better and live better, and so you can help yourself, your friends, your family, and people you will deal with, in your future, at work and in society.

We’ll learn what logic is through lecture, examples, and some discussion. We’ll let you “chew” the idea a bit on your own.

A knowledge of logic is necessary to learn well, to think well, to form good conclusions, to avoid fallacies, to spot bad thinking in our culture, and to live a good life.

Note: this is a class on logic, so we need to be prepared to think about our thinking. And the material and methods could be taught to adults, business professionals, and scientists, too; it’s not just easy stuff for kids. 🙂
