Math Matters

Justin Beiber shows us, with his bad posture, what sitting in modern car seats, using big modern pillows, working at computers with chronically bad posture conspire to do to us. They are like, as Katy Bowman says, casts. Or a less severe version of the binding of Japanese women’s feet. We adapt to chronic conditions, no matter how small the force, and no matter for good or for bad.

Math and science are our tools for seeing beyond the immediate moment, beyond what “feels good” (by our conditioning), and finding cause and effect.
