Statistics In Everyday Life

An ABC News Primetime episode (“Gay Parents Bashed”) has some everyday statistics for you. They were testing prejudice in Texas versus New York.

If you get the numbers, what ratios/proportions do you calculate?  If you regard what was done in the video as an experiment, is it a good one? Is it logical or illogical? What, if anything, would need to be done to make it more logical? What could we conclude from the experiment done in the video? Is that what the video is concluding? Thinking of the experiment in terms of “hypothesis testing,” “experimental design,” and rules of induction would be a good thinking exercise.
