Joseph Solano, a Texas A&M graduate with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, brings years of volunteering and mentoring experience to tutoring. He has been exposed to people of many different nationalities all his life, and has always had a passion for helping others and a passion for learning.

Born of Cuban parents, he is fluent in Spanish — but spent the first 6 ½ years of his life in Africa.

In high school, he volunteered for 2 years at Maud Marks Library and Christus St. Catherine Hospital. In college, he was a volunteer with the Down Syndrome Association and the Brazos Valley Food Bank; he was also a mentor in the freshman leadership organization, F.L.A.S.H., was a “Fish Camp” (an introductory session for freshman students at A&M) crew counselor for 2 years, and was a salsa dance instructor for 3 years.

In high school, he graduated with honors, was involved in the orchestra, and belonged to the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the Junior Engineering Technical Society.

Upon graduation and before working with Gold Academy, Joseph has worked as a Field Engineer with Halliburton and as a trader in the stock market.
